STEVE JOHNSON....WHO IS STEVE JOHNSON, THE WEEK FOUR PREVIEW!

The eighteenth ranked WR last week was.......Steve Johnson! Now, I am not what they call a football expert, but I pride myself on knowing the back-ups on most teams. I had no idea who Steve Johnson was (Bills WR because I know you didn't know either!). However, this means that Steve Johnson would have been a fantasy starter with the points he put up - the same amount of points that Andre Johnson and Reggie Wayne put up.....combined!
Now, if you've played fantasy football long enough, you've heard the phrase, "You have to play your studs!" But, as part of our Week Four Preview, I'm going to give you the option not to listen to that advice. I'll give you one "Crazy Guy You Could Play", just in case you've got Jamaal Charles, Miles Austin (both on byes this week, time to start paying attention) or another stud with a bad match-up!
49ers vs. Falcons
The 49ers D has been surprisingly bad, while the Falcons offense has been not surprisingly good! Who don't you start from Atlanta? Roddy White, leading the league in targets; Michael Turner, getting 30 carries still; Tony Gonzalez, just had his best game of the year; Matty Ice, San Fran has given up the 4th most points to QB's this year; heck, even Jason Snelling is getting 15 carries last week. Put 'em all in! And don't forget about the 49ers...or do! Although it will be neat to see them with a new Offensive Coordinator. Maybe Frank Gore goes off, maybe Vernon Davis is better, maybe Alex Smith hits Michael Crabtree more than once a game - ok, now we're going too far!
CRAZY GUY TO START: Michael Jenkins, ATL
DOC'S PICK = FALCONS / TBONE'S PICK = FALCONS

JETS VS BILLS
OK, OK, LT is better than Shonn Greene! I believe it! And it's probably not going to change. And they both could have solid games this week. But, I don't share Doc's love for Mark Sanchez. The Bills actually do better against the pass...unless they are playing guys named Tom. Here's a sneaky play - C.J. Spiller. I "heart" C.J. this week. Both Doc and I agree, he might break loose for a couple here. And I also "heart" (it would be cool if we had a heart graphic we could add) Dustin Keller. Just do it - put him in there the rest of the year!
CRAZY GUY TO START: Steve Johnson, BUF (in his first start with Ryan Fitzpatrick, he had 12 fantasy pts and was ranked #18)
DOC'S PICK = JETS / TBONE'S PICK = JETS

BENGALS VS BROWNS
These teams are so similiar - they both start with B, orange is a major color in their decor, and both their QB's not so passy! Don't you have to start Peyton Hillis after last week, and the Bengals are better against the pass. And don't you have to start Cedric Benson after he left the Bears? As for the passing game, I'm not starting T.O. until Carson Palmer goes back to 2008. You won't hear this much - both D's could be great plays. The Cinci special teams has had trouble covering, and that's not good with Josh Cribs coming at you; however the Bengal D has forced 8 turnovers in the last two weeks...and the Browns do know how to give away games.
CRAZY GUY TO START: Browns D (actually a lot of guys!)
DOC'S PICK = BENGALS / TBONE'S PICK = BENGALS

LIONS VS PACKERS
How about this stat? The Packers have gone 315 games since they last lost to the Lions in Wisconsin! Really, 315! Start your Packers! And I'v got a gut feeling (and right now, it's a very big gut - Taco at Midnight Doritos will do that to you) that Brandon Jackson breaks a big one! One guy who won't be breaking a big one is probably Jahvid Best. I don't care what anyone else says, look out for Kevin Smith to have some value in this one. OK, he's not going to take Best's job, but just watch out! And what about Calvin Johnson? Poor, poor Calvin Johnson! He was the 48th best WR last week! I'd rather have a pair of Calvin Klein's than Megatron right now.
CRAZY GUY TO START: Brandon Jackson
DOC'S PICK = LIONS (Just kidding!) / TBONE'S PICK = PACKERS

PANTHERS VS SAINTS
Did you know people took mission trips to help the people in New Orleans after the flood? Doc enlightened us with that fact on the podcast! He also broke the earth-shattering news that Carolina is not very good. They average 10.3 points a game, give up the most points to Tight Ends, and are averagine giving up 145 yards rushing to opposing teams. So, if Pierre Thomas plays, he'll be marching in....the endzone! And just so you know, Lance Moore - I'm in! Before the season started I was a big fan, and ever since HackHype.com brought him up, it's starting to make sense again!
CRAZY GUY TO START: Robert Meachum (it's his turn!)
DOC'S PICK = SAINTS / TBONE'S PICK = SAINTS

RAVENS VS STEELERS
Obviously, you're starting Charlie Batch! That's a joke! But, a QB may be the only worthy start here! You're definitely not excited about the running options. In the last 54 games only three other running backs have done what Peyton Hillis did to the Ravens last week (go over 100 yards), so that's not happening again! And the Steelers have the second best D against the run! Now, Joe Flacco did have a couple good games against the Steelers last year, but this ain't the same Steelers. One thing that remains the same is Mike Wallace. Last year, he led the league with 19.4 yards per catch. This year, he's up to 26.7. It's tough to find a great option when this game could be 3-0!
CRAZY GUY TO START: Derrick Mason
DOC'S PICK = STEELERS / TBONE'S PICK = RAVENS

SEAHAWKS VS RAMS
Does it seem like the Seahawks play a whole lot better when they are returning interceptions and kick-offs for touchdowns? Maybe they should try that every week. Let's give Pete Carrol some credit. Not only does he have these guys going after the ball and stopping the run, but he realized Justin Forsett is their best running back. Last week, he got the majority of the carries. And he may be the only one I trust right now as a fantasy starter (If you want to talk people I trust with a Maple Bar, that's another story. I won't let that die!) But now, let's get to my true love! I "heart" the Rams! For some reason, I see Mark Clayton as a solid #3 WR all year. I "heart" Billy Bajema even if he doesn't play this week. I "heart" Laurent Robinson even if he's next to him. And I "heart" Steven Jackson's groin (ok, that was bad) because it may give Kenneth Darby a chance to earn some fantasy points for my team.
CRAZY GUY TO START: Sam Bradford, has averaged over 200 yards / game and is playing an average Seattle defense at home! I "heart" Sam Bradford!
DOC'S PICK = RAMS / TBONE'S PICK = RAMS

BRONCOS VS TITANS
Couple surprising things here. 1) The Broncos are tied with the Jets for holding running backs to the least points this year. I told you - surprising! 2) Kyle Orton is one of the five fastest QB's to get to 1,000 yards since 1960! Yeah, Kyle Orton. I think it's safe to say, Chris Johnson is in trouble and Brandon Lloyd is having another big day....ok, maybe not! Actually, the Titans are much better against the pass this year. It's their running D that hasn't been as good. Unfortunately, that means you'd have to start Lawrence Maroney. C'mon do you really want to go down that road again? It's kind of the opposite in Tennessee. The Broncos D has given up a lot of points to opposing WR's and QB's. They've already given up 7 TD passes. Vince Young, maybe?
CRAZY GUY TO START: Nate Washington (see stat on Broncos pass D
DOC'S PICK = BRONCOS / TBONE'S PICK = BRONCOS

COLTS VS JAGUARS
Do not fear MJD owners, this is when he goes off! And if he doesn't, I will! He did have 207 yards rushing against the Colts last year. I'm hoping he does that in one game this time around. Again, if he doesn't, this is going to be over early and look for Donald Brown to get a lot of work as long as he's healthy! Check my rankings, I put Reggie Wayne ahead of Austin Collie this week, but I'm not so sure Wayne finishes ahead of him by the end of the year.
CRAZY GUY TO START: Donald Brown
DOC'S PICK = COLTS / TBONE'S PICK = COLTS

TEXANS VS RAIDERS
The Texans are horrible against the pass. The Raiders, not so good against the run! Hello, Bruce Gradkowski! Hello Louis Murphy! Hello Arian Foster! Obviously, Matt Schaub will be more than fine, but I'm a little worried that a banged up Andre Johnson going against Nmandi (Sp?) won't get you to fantasy heaven! But, he's not the only stud receiver banged up. Louis Murphy hadn't been practicing so watch him. And also watch this. I've got a bet with Doc that Michael Bush will have more fantasy points than Darren McFadden this year. This week is where the tide starts to shift in my favor. In other, "out there" info, I'd wait one more week, let Owen Daniels heal up a little more, and then go get him!
CRAZY GUY TO START: Darius Heyward-Bay
DOC'S PICK = TEXANS / TBONE'S PICK = RAIDERS (that is not a typo! Raiders doesn't look anything like Texans)

REDSKINS VS EAGLES
God honors the classy individual. That's why I see Donovan McNabb having a better game here! I've got nothing against Vick, but Donovan got a raw deal in Philly and I think God will hear his cry! And not only will he have God on his side, but Kyle Shanahan! Even last week, when the running game was working, he only ran 16 times. The question is - who gets those 16 carries. I'd wait one more week before buying a "Torain" jersey, but if you've got room, store him just in case. You know who's jersey I won't own? LeSean McCoy's! Not sure why, just don't like him. I have bought into the DeSean Jackson, but I won't be wearing my "Celek" jersy anytime soon. Fantasy or no fantasy, this one should be a great one to watch!
CRAZY GUY TO START: Ryan Torain
DOC'S PICK = REDSKINS / TBONE'S PICK = REDSKINS

CARDINALS VS CHARGERS
If you can, trade for Ryan Matthews as soon as you read this! No, really, open up a tab and offer the Ryan Matthews owner a trade. This will be the lowest his value is all year. In fact, if you can get Beanie Wells, do it now. I see them both having good games. You want to know what's also been surprising? Malcolm Floyd seems to be living up to his Sleeper status. I really see him being a reliable fantasy receiver this year! And I see this Gates guy being pretty good too! Fitzgerald though - I bet if you drafted him early, you own 35 I do not "heart" Derick Anderson shirts!
CRAZY GUY TO START: Stephen Williams, starting WR for Cardinals - He tore up the Bears in preseason!
DOC'S PICK = CARDINALS / TBONE'S PICK = CHARGERS

BEARS VS GIANTS
Who is the only undefeated team in the NFC? Enough said. You start all your Bears! OK, maybe not Tommie Harris or Devin Aromashadu! Forte should have a nice game, I think Johnny Knox is the receiver you want and you have to start Jay Cutler. I even think you might get some value out of Greg Olsen. And now that Devin Hester's back, the Bear's D is back! Really, you can't start a RB against the Bears. They just don't give up any yards! Last week, you saw that you can pass on them, and I like Steve Smith to catch some underneath stuff this week, so dust off your Eli.
CRAZY GUY TO START: Kevin Boss (really, if you start any Giants against the Bears, you're crazy!)
DOC'S PICK = BEARS / TBONE'S PICK = GIANTS (it's worked two weeks in a row)

PATRIOTS VS DOLPHINS
The question is, can the Patriots secondary be that bad? I think the answer is "Yes!" The Pats are the 6th worst team agains QB's and WR's. Henne to Marshall sounds very nice! You did see last week, that they have that capability if they need to use it. However, you Ronnie Brown owners will be glad to see the green and white gone for a while! Speaking of running backs, if you see Fred Taylor's toe stay freaky, Ben Jarvus Green-Elis makes a nice play (he also makes a nice Bonus Word for a Spelling Test!) A couple years ago, Randy Moss almost single-handedly sent Jason Allen back to the bench. After he got burned by Edwards last week, it could happen again.
CRAZY GUY TO START: Devone Bess
DOC'S PICK = PATRIOTS / TBONE'S PICK = DOLPHINS

WARNING: Don't be starting Steve Johnson, saying that TBone picked him as a Fantsy Starter! No! These are just some guys to watch out for, get to know, it's like an introduction to some lesser known NFL guys.....and if a couple do go off, I get all the credit! Enjoy Week Four!
