EVEN A 7 OR 9 YEAR-OLD GIRL COULD DO BETTER THAN US!

This week I actually decided to check out my picks. I came up with this elablorate system in which I would give myself a point total for where I ranked a player in comparison to their actual point total for the week. For example, I ranked Matt Schaub as the #3 QB this week and he finished as the 26th best. That's 23 points for me. However, I ranked Peyton Hillis the 37th RB, but he finished as the #3 back - that's 34 points. (I borrowed this from HackHype.com - pretty cool thing they're doing actually!) Anyway, I would add up the points to see if I improved each week; however I noticed something very quickly....MY POINT TOTALS WERE RIDICULOUS! I was so far off, and the number of players that I didn't even rank that finished in the Top 20 was crazy.
Let me give you a sample! Mark Sanchez, Matt Cassel, Lance Moore, Roy Williams, Brandon Lloyd, Mike Wallace - they were all TOP 10 at their position last week. C'mon, those guys alone gave me hundreds of points. Then, you put in guys like Matt Schaub, Brett Favre, Joseph Addai, Matt Forte. Shonn Greene, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, and Calvin Johnson - who all finished OUTSIDE THE TOP 20 or 40 AT THEIR POSITION, and I was getting into the thousands!
I came up with a new theory - THIS STUFF IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT! In fact, last week, I had a tough decision. Brandon Marshall against the Jets or Malcolm Floyd. When you have a tough decision like that what do you do? Call on your nine year-old. Grace told me to start Brandon Marshall....and he won me my first game!
That got me thinking. I should give Grace and Sofia, my 7 year-old daughter, a number of difficult fantasy questions for the week and see how they do. So, here they are....
GRACE AND SOFIA'S PICKS FOR WEEK FOUR!
1) Kyle Orton over Joe Flacco (G)
2) Michael Vick over Donovan McNabb (S)
3) "Sharder" Mendenhall over LT (G)
4) Darren McFadden over Peyton Hillis (S)
5) Jabar Gaffney over DeMaryius Thomas or Brandon Lloyd (G)
6) Reggie Wayne over Austin Collie (S)
7) Calvin Johnson over Louis Murphy (G)
8) Ochocinco over Malcolm Floyd (S)
9) Zach Miller over Brent Celek (G)
10) Aaron Hernandez over Owen Daniels (S)
There we go! Now let's see how the "experts" rank these guys for Week Four and see who does better!

Of course, if you'd like Grace or Sofia to give you fantasy advice, just send us an email at rockonfootball@yahoo.com, and they'd be happy to settle a difficult decision for you!

And if you'd like to hear them break down their decisions, click below!

ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FOOTBALL I LEARNED IN WEEK THREE!

OK, let's get right to it. You may sense some negativitly in a few of the notes, but hey, I'm 0-3! What do you want - joy and cheer? However, here are a couple of things I noticed after three weeks of NFL action:
* Brett Favre blows!
* Running backs that you pick up off the waiver wire were there for a reason (Tolbert was ok, but in the last two weeks I've done the fist pump when I've been awarded Brandon Jackson and Mike Tolbert. Their peformance wasn't fist pump worthy!)
* How about those new QBs? Bruce Gradkowski to Louis Murphy - you may hear that a lot! Jimmy Clausen looked a lot like Matt Moore...without the completions to Steve Smith! And Michael Vick - how did nobody see this coming in the preseason?
* How about those old guys? Santana Moss has an incredible day and Brandon Lloyd grabs another 169 yards worth of bullets thrown by Kyle Orton!
* Here's why you can't predict everything that's gonna happen on a Sunday. The Ravens had not given up a touchdown this year...and then they give up two - to Peyton Hillis, and 144 yards. The Steelers had not scored three touchdowns this year...and then Charlie Batch, their fourth stringer, throws for three today. C'mon!
* MJD blows! I like you better than Brett Favre, but can you please lead me to victory one day? We may just have this year's Matt Forte!
* There's a reason why you drafted Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson and Darren McFadden 1-2-3 this year. Oh wait.....
* If you pick up a guy, start him, and he throws for 176 yards and 0 TD's. Then, after you drop him he has 250 with three....Or if you pick up a defense that gives up like 38 points and then, after you drop them, has 2 return TD's and 5 tournovers - IT MIGHT NOT BE YOUR YEAR! Thank you Matt Cassel and the Seattle Seahawks for showing me that!
* The Tampa Bay defense blows! (See Charlie Batch)
* I thought the Skins weren't that impressed with Portis, and I was right. The only thing I was wrong on was who they'd get to share with him. They just got Torain off the practice squad. Welcome back, Mike Shanahan, you are the devil!
* After about three weeks, you know when some of your picks have gone astray:
1) Randy Moss is not the bust of the year (see MJD). He will not be outside the Top 10 of fantasy receivers. Yep, I said that!
2) The New York Giants are not going to the Super Bowl! Said that too!
3) DeSean Jackson will be a Top 10 guy again. Yeah, I doubted him!
4) And LT will be better than Shonn Greene. Can't believe that one!
* How does Wacco for Boldin sound? I know I stole the whole "Wacco for Flaco" thing from the Fantasy Focus, but boy has he been good!
* Speaking of other podcasts, nice call by HackHype.com. They said that the Reggie Bush injury would positively affect Lance Moore. I thought they were crazy. Guess they were not! Check out HackHype on iTunes!
* Not only is Mike Singletary goofy, he's real bad! I know he swept the carpet after church at Willow Creek, but it rubs me the wrong way that he got that guy fired!
* It may be time for a Spelling Bee: Tony Moeaki (sp?) and BenJarvus Green-Elis (sp?) I don't know how to spell them, do you? You may need to on your next trip tothe Waiver Wire!
* If was nice of Miles Austin to give all his catches and touchdowns to Roy Williams this week. That's loving your neighbor as yourself!
* Reggie Wayne, when did you change your number to 17 and become caucasion?
* I was embarrased when I had a groin injury and had to get it checked out. The doctor was a lady I knew from church. Hope that doesn't happen to Steven Jackson!
* Way to go Kevin Kolb! You just had your NFL live taken from you, and there you were whoopin and whappin on the sideline, cheering on the team. Now, that's a guy who puts others in front of himself!
* For all that negative stuff I said, I'm sorry! And I'm in a much better mood - Brandon Marshall may have just got me win #1! Thanks to my daughter Grace! I asked her who to start out of Brandon Marshall and Malcolm Floyd. She said, "Not the one going against the Seahawks!" WhoooHoooo! Send all your fantasy football questions to rockonfootball@yahoo.com with "Grace" in the subject line!

THE THIRD DATE - OUR WEEK THREE PREVIEW!

By the third date you usually know, don't you? By that time you've kind of realized if this is the person God might have for you or if it's time to move on! Well, we're in that time of the reltionship! It's time to either settle in for the long-term or cut 'em loose. I just feel like this is the week where we find out if we're going to keep guys on our team in hopes of something special or drop them loose and look for better options. So, in our Week Three Preview, I"m going to ask some questions of guys we've been courting so far and see if they're ready for a serious commitment!
TITANS AT GIANTS
Ahmad Bradshaw, are you ever going to be the Number One Fantasy Back I've always wanted you to be? Nate Washington, could you be a fantasy relevant receiver week after week, or should I get the digits of Kenny Brit? And which of you three Giant receivers should I take to the prom?

Jahvid Best, really? Brett Favre, I know you'll always be there for me, but it's not me - it's you! Can you give me some hope that this relationship will work? Calvin Johnson, you always look good, but are you person people think you are?
DOC'S PICK = VIKINGS / TBONE'S PICK = VIKINGS
BILLS AT PATRIOTS
Fred Jackson, I so much want to like you, can you do anything to help me out? Aaron Hernandez, can I trust you? Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris, Ben-Jarvis Green Ellis - if I took you out to dinner, would you share a plate?
DOC'S PICK = PATRIOTS / TBONE'S PICK = PATRIOTS
FALCONS AT SAINTS
Roddy White, why does no one else love you? Pierre Thomas, are you really too good to be true? Michael, the Burner, can you ever stay in a relationship long enough to do something really special?
DOC'S PICK = SAINTS / TBONE'S PICK = FALCONS
REDSKINS AT RAMS
Clinton Portis, are you going to do anything with all those carries or should I start hitting on your roommate? Santana Moss, Chris Cooley, Donovan McNabb - is this going to happen forever? Sam Bradford, no offense, but can you possibly use Steven Jackson more?
DOC'S PICK = REDSKINS / TBONE'S PICK = REDSKINS
EAGLES AT JAGUARS
MJD, it's not like we're gonna end it, but could you throw me a bone here, give me a little something to keep my hopes up? Michael Vick, we've given you the Golden Opportunity, is it possible you mess it up again? David Garrard, is there any reason why I shouldn't let you go?
DOC'S PICK = JAGUARS / TBONE'S PICK = JAGUARS (This is not a typo!)
RADIERS AT CARDINALS
Beanie Wells, I love you, but how long am I going to have to wait? Bruce Gradkowski, I want to love you as much as the Raider players do, but can you really provide that spark every week? Darren McFadden, even though you're the hottest guy in Fantasy, are we even going to remember you come December?
DOC'S PICK = CARDINALS / TBONE'S PICK = RAIDERS
CHARGERS AT SEAHAWKS
Malcolm Floyd, I'm not asking you to be Vincent Jackson, but could you be close? Justin Forsett, is there any way we can see you more often? Mike Tolbert, did you just snake your way into a relationship?
DOC'S PICK = CHARGERS / TBONE'S PICK = CHARGERS
COLTS AT BRONCOS
Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon, I can't have both of you, so which one is it gonna be? DeMaryius Thomas, can you do it one more week just to be sure? Knowshon, I'm not going to lie to you, I've got a couple people that look like they want your spot, can you promise me you're gonna keep it?
DOC'S PICK = COLTS / TBONE'S PICK = COLTS
JETS AT DOLPHINS
Brandon Marshall, are you going to be the Number #1 receiver I drafted as a #2? Shonn Greene, are you ever going to look better than LT? Ronnie Brown, can I count on you not to break it off?
DOC'S PICK = JETS / TBONE'S PICK = JETS
PACKERS AT BEARS
Matt Forte, don't do this to me again. Can you keep on putting up these numbers without running the ball? Brandon Jackson, last week I was smitten. This week I'm asking, should I have ever gotten involved? Devon Aromashadu, where are you O Devon Aromashadu?
DOC'S PICK = BEARS / TBONE'S PICK = PACKERS

I know that made no sense whatsoever, but hey, it's late, I'm tired and I just spent four hours analyzing NFL football. If you think this is bad, you should check out my picks on pages above - Go ahead, do it!
Thanks for listening, thanks for reading!

ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FOOTBALL I LEARNED IN WEEK TWO

Lotta stuff - let's get right to it!
1) The best Packer's running back happened to be playing for the Buffalo Bills. Do you think it was a coincidence that Marshawn Lynch got 17 carries against the team who'd be interested in trading for him?
2) The best Viking receiver on Sunday is sitting in San Diego! Rumor has it that Jared Allen and the boys were seen boarding a helicopter after the game.
3) I said Matt Cassel would be better than Tom Brady. It took until 13:17 left in the 2nd quarter for me to be wrong!
4) Thomas Jones is gonna drive me, and all Jamaal Charles owners, crazy this year.
5) Chiefs D/ST - 2 games, 2 touchdowns, 2 wins!
6) On our podcast I said Derick Anderson would get better and better - He won't!
7) All is not Well for Beanie (get it? last name is Wells!)after Hightower went off today!
8) Tough day in Tennessee! Vince Young gets pulled, Chris Johnson's streak of 100 yard games is over, they give the ball up 7 times and lose! At least they still have Graceland!
9) Michael Vick looked like a starting QB on Sunday. Luckilly, Philly fans are so easy-going or else there'd be a huge Quarterback Controversy!
10) We have two football cards that are displayed during every podcast - Jahvid Best and Tim Tebow. One of them had 232 yards and 3 touchdowns, the other didn't play a snap. Guess who is who!
11) Can you throw...or at least hand off to "The Sharder"? Please contact Mike Tomlin ASAP!
12) It may be time to come up with a cool nickname for Jason Snelling - "Burner", already taken, "The Smelling", nah, How about, "The #1 pick-up this week!"
13) Best QB named Matt this week - Matty Ice!
14) After the preseason I thought I was crazy to say Jay Cutler was a Top 5 QB. I might not be crazy!
15) A lot of talk amongst fantasy football experts, that Miles Austin could be the #1 WR this year. That's not crazy either!
16) Look at who's the Bronco's #1 WR this week - next week is Jabar Gafney's turn to get 100 yards.
17) I had a choice of either picking up Matt Cassel or Kyle Orton this week. Ooops!
18) Matt Schaub and Charlie BAtch combined for over 500 yards passing!
19) OK, OK, LT - I believe!
20) When's the last time a game had two Tight Ends go for over 100 yards each? Man, Aaron Hernandez looks good!
21) Sepaking of people who deserve an "I believe" - Mercedes Lewis had 70 yards today!
22) What is up with Rashad Jennings getting so much work?
23) Kevin Kolb, Vince Young, Jason Campbell, Derick Anderson and Matt Moore - watch your back...or your back-up!
24) Ryan Matthews - the only way to stop him is to hurt him! Mike Tolbert could be a nice consolation prize in the Waiver Wire.
25) Andre Johnson - now that's more like it.
26) McNabb throws for 426 yards and Jason Campbell gets pulled in the 2nd half. Looks like a good move by the Skins!
27) Mark Clayton has come back to earth!
28) This is why I love fantasy football. Arian Foster was drafted in like the fifth round. Darren McFadden wasn't even drafted for the most part. There are your Top Two backs after two weeks.
29) On the podcast, I said the only person not to have a big game in the Manning Bowl would be Joseph Addai. Whoopsie!
30) My fantasy team got crushed, most of my picks were dead wrong, but it's a good Sunday because the Bears beat Dallas 27-20!

Thanks for reading and have a great Monday Night!

September 17, 2010

TWO FOR WEEK TWO

For some things in life, it's impossible to pick just one! Your favorite ice cream - Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough or Cookies N' Cream? Sleeping or eatting? The Sunday Night Game or Monday Night Football? You see what I mean? So, for Week Two, we're going with the TWO best things about each game (And don't worry, by Week 17, it won't be 17. This ends here!). Sometimes the best will be relevant fantasy news. Sometimes it will be interesting stats. But, more often than not, it'll just be something I think is cool!

STEELERS VS TITANS
1) Chris Johnson has 12 straight 100 yard games and needs 2 (that's right 2-see our theme here!) to tie Barry Sanders record of 14. He won't get to 13.
2) "The Sharder" will probably struggle again. But, don't freak out until Week Five. (And if you don't know who "The Sharder" is, download all our other podcasts!)
DOC'S PICK = Steelers / TBONE'S PICK = Steelers
DOLPHINS VS VIKINGS
1) I've got Brandon Marshall one man away from being the #2 receiver this week. You can beat the Vikings secondary (see Drew Brees first half!)
2) If you bribed me with a Baby Ruth, I still wouldn't start any Viking receiver. In fact, I have Brett Favre on my team, and I'm deciding who I should pick up: Jason Campbell, Chad Henne or Matt Cassel, to start this week.
DOC'S PICK = Vikings / TBONE'S PICK = Dolphins
CARDINALS VS FALCONS
1) 2 out of the 3 most targeted wide receivers from Week One are in this game. Roddy White had a crazy 23 targets (cool how 2 out of 3 and 23 went together) and Larry Fitz was third.
2) After this game, all the world will be remembering why Michael Turner was a #1 pick last year!
DOC'S PICK = Falcons / TBONE'S PICK = Falcons
RAVENS VS BENGALS
1) I know what you're thinking, the Bengals will not be able to run on the Ravens. Oh contrair monfrair! Cedric Benson had 2, 100 yard rushing games last year against the Ravens.
2) T.O. did have the fourth most targets last week, and last I checked Ed Reed was still out in Baltimore!
DOC'S PICK = Ravens / TBONE'S PICK = Bengals
CHIEFS VS BRONCOS
1) Last year Jerome Harrison ran for 256 yards against the Chiefs. Jamaal Charles went for 157 against the Browns!
2) I predict there will be a return touchdown in this game!
DOC'S PICK = Chiefs / TBONE'S PICK = Chiefs
BEARS VS COWBOYS
1) Miles Austin is going to torch the Bears!
2) This could be a good Bears D we're looking at - last week they only gave up 110 yards....until the Lions marched down the field at the end!
DOC'S PICK = Bears / TBONE'S PICK = Cowboys (Sorry to Bears nation)
EAGLES VS LIONS
1) In his last four games, DeSean Jackson has had 14 catches for 124 yards..total!
2) Isn't it weird that it's only been two years since Michael Vick had protestors and angry dog owners complaining about him being in the NFL. Now, millions of fantasy football players can't wait to pick him up.
DOC'S PICK = Eagles / TBONE'S PICK = Eagles
BILLS VS PACKERS
1) There are only 2 people who think the Bills can win this game - Chan Gailey and Chan Gailey's mom.
2) The Bills only had 166 yards total last week. Brandon Jackson might have more than that by half-time!
DOC'S PICK = Packers / TBONE'S PICK = Packers
BUCCANEERS VS PANTHERS
1) The Bucs gave up 424 yards rushing last year to the Panthers!
2) If you could only pick two running backs in this game, I'd go with Cadillac and DeAngelo Williams.
DOC'S PICK = Panthers / TBONE'S PICK = Panthers
SEAHAWKS VS BRONCOS
1) There are two things that won't happen in this game: Matt Hasselback running one in and Brandon Lloyd leading the Broncos in receiving yards!
2) Last year, Kyle Orton had 15 passes of more than 20 yards on the road. At home, he had 28!
DOC'S PICK = Broncos / TBONE'S PICK = Seahawks
RAMS VS RAIDERS
1) I'm gonna go with Grace - Michael Bush has more fantasy points than DMac this week!
2) If we learned anything last week, we learned that the Raiders can still be run on. But, I still have Steven Jackson with slightly less than 145 yards!
DOC'S PICK = Rams / TBONE'S PICK = Raiders
TEXANS VS REDSKINS
1) Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub go up and Arian Foster comes down. They all end up right in the middle!
2) Two guys that you might not have heard this about in the preseason: Santana Moss and Chris Cooley will be startable again, and for the most part you can click on them all year!
DOC'S PICK = Redskins / TBONE'S PICK = Texans
PATRIOTS VS JETS
1) I'm with Sofia - don't give up on Shonn Greene. Two n's in Shonn - don't you think that's a interesting coincidence for Week Two!
2) Dustin Keller will have more fantasy points than Randy Moss in this game, and then he will complain how the Jets haven't shown they care about him.
DOC'S PICK = Patriots / TBONE'S PICK = Jets
JAGUARS VS CHARGERS
1) Last week, my #2 back Jamaal Charles broke off a 56 yarder against the Chargers. I also own MJD!
2) If Malcolm Floyd does not score more points than Legadu Naanee this week, I'm dropping him!
DOC'S PICK = Chargers / TBONE'S PICK = Chargers
GIANTS VS COLTS
1) The two quarterbacks who face off in this one are brothers - bet you haven't heard that yet this week!
2) This is gonna be a Shootout on Sunday Night! Start everyone....except Joseph Addai!
DOC'S PICK = Colts / TBONE'S PICK = Colts
SAINTS VS 49ERS
1) Is Frank Gore last year's Matt Forte? I'm just asking!
2) Could you have two better guys facing off against each other - Drew Brees vs. Mike Singletary!
DOC'S PICK = Saints / TBONE'S PICK = Saints

Just two more things....just kidding, that's enough. Enjoy Week Two!

Last Week: DOC 8-8, TBONE 8-8

FREE AGENT TUESDAY - GO GET 'EM!

It's like the day after Thanksgiving - people getting up early, waiting in line to get that "One Day Only" bargain. (Actually, I do remember years ago when the first person to get on-line Tuesday morning got anybody they wanted. I didn't sleep a lot in those days!) But, are there really any bargains out there at this point......
OK, stop reading this right now and go pick-up.......Michael Vick (Doc). He thinks that Kevin Kolb has the best chance to be out of there quickly. However, Reid has said he will start even though he won't be practicing until Friday. Interesting, but I would go get Brandon Jackson. He's going to get at least one Week (against Buffalo)and maybe more. He looked great in preseason and he's the only guy there if Grant is injured!
Now that you're back, let's see about those bargains!
SELLER: Darren McFadden ?
BUYER: He is interesting, but Michael Bush could be back next week and then he's a BBC (Back By Committee).
SELLER: Peyton Hillis ?
BUYER: He did get the same amount of carries as Jerome Harrison, but he's a Brown in a BBC.
SELLER: That doesn't inspire you? How about Brandon Lloyd?
BUYER: C'mon, I can't ever see myself clickingBrandon Lloyd?
SELLER: Well, then can I sell you Mario Mannigham or Mark Clayton? BUYER: Mario, "I started out hot last year too" or the Rams top guy, thanks but I think I'll keep my guys.
SELLER: Well, let's look at the Quarterbacks? Derrick Anderson or Josh Freeman?
BUYER: Anderson does have good receivers, I may be back for him, but you can keep Freeman.
SELLER: Ok, I do have a little used Evan Moore over in the corner.
BUYER: Who?
SELLER: Well, that's all I have. Oh wait, there is one more. He was awesome a year ago, and then kind of skipped a year, and now he's in an offense that TMR says is going to pass alot and put up two 100 yard receivers in Week One.
BUYER: Eddie Royal?
SELLER: That's him!
BUYER: OK, wrap him up. I'll take him.
TRANSLATION: If you don't get Vick or Jackson, I think Eddie Royal might be the best remaining guy out there!

ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FOOTBALL I LEARNED IN WEEK ONE!

Now, that we have our own website and podcast, I am forced to pay attention to every detail of every game that is being played in the National Football League. I know there are thousands of fans counting on us to provide them with the best fantasy football information around. Well, you probably won't get that, but I did learn a few things in Week One:
1) I love Sundays! Waking up, turning on the radio to your favorite Fantasy Football talk show, talking about the Bears at church, having a Bears party in the front yard and listening to the game while five girls wait for the Bears to score so they get candy, checking the live scoring and putting a cap on the day with a little Sunday Night Football.
2) Mike Martz and Jay Cutler are gonna get along just fine as long as he keeps throwing for 372 yards. They may even invite Matt Forte to dinner with them now. But, remember, last year, Forte had two games where he rushed for over 100 yards, guess who?
3) There's a reason we don't get too hyped on rookies - 26 yards combined for Jahvid Best and CJ Spiller. Now watch Ryan Matthews go off tomorrow!
4) There are a lot of quarterbacks named Matt. If you've got the one with the last name Stafford or Kolb (ok, he's not Matt, but after his concussion he may think he is) you may want to watch the injury news this week. Welcome back Michael Vick!
5) I'm only gonna say it once - don't fall for Darren McFadden again. He's ditched you at the prom one too many times!
6) Palmer, Ochocinco (remember he helped the homeless kid - God's going to give him a great year) and even T.O. looked good. But, they were down huge! I think they're still a running team!
7) In the annual Mario Manningham starts out strong campaign, he gets 85 yards, but we all knew Hakeem Nicks would have 3 TDS and be on pace for 48!
8) Way to Go Wes Welker! That's an awesome story. In a not so awesome story, Randy Moss....
9) Could Frank Gore be the Matt Forte of last year?
10) If Brandon Jacobs was making angry comments last week, what do you think he's going to say after Ahmad Bradshaw had 93 yards and a touchdown? (By the way, in the other committees we care about, DeAngelo Williams had 16 carries to Jonathon Stewarts 5, and Peyton Hillis and Jerome Harrison had the same amount. I don't know why Cleveland hates Harrison!)
11) The two biggest non-shockers were Peyton Manning threw for a lot of yards and it was to a whole bunch of receivers, and Arian Foster going crazy after the TMR, from ESPN, and Rock On Football predicted it months ago.
12) No one else cared about this game, but I did. In the Cardinals vs Rams, Beanie Wells owners were very happy that Tim Hightower didn't go completely off, Steve Breaston owners (are there any out there?) were happy. And how about a shout out to our ISU alum Laurent Robinson for getting a TD and Billy Bajema catching 3-18...and Bradford had him wide open for the win!
13) In our "we are a Christian podcast, so we much mention Tim Tebow" segment, he had two carries for two yards! Awesome day!
14) For a guy who's supposed to be a fantasy expert, I wrongly predicted Jabar Gafney would have 100 yards, Donald Driver would be better than Greg Jennings, Derrick Anderson would be a Top 10 QB, and that Cadillac Williams would do better than the "Sharder" (although he needed OT to do it) while going 6-8 on the Thursday/Sunday games, but I did say that "Austin Collie would have the most yards out of any Indy receiver." Oh yeah, look at me, I'm a fantasy expert!

....And now, here's my complete breakdown of the Sunday Night game (it's the only one I really watched):
Can someone tell Gary Crouton, the Dallas O Coordinator, to stop running the wide receiver screen? I counted 131 plays for 0 yards on that one! Speaking of offense, it looks like the Redskins might actually have one this year. Yeah, they didn't score an offensive TD (those are overrated), but they actually looked like an NFL team. Donovan McNabb looks great and he seems to have a connection with Chris Cooley and Santana Moss! Even Clinton Portis looked good once or twice, but I think we can be sure of one thing - Uncle Mike is gonna give him the ball a lot, and against defenses of teams that don't start with D, he should be fine! Now, Dallas, you should've taken a knee at half-time. Oh well! It does look like Miles Austin was not a fluke. He sure does catch a lot of balls...and makes sure he brags about each and every one of them. On the other side, either Romo or Jason Garret (I know he's the Coordinator, but Crouton was an ex-Bear guy who ran wide receiver screens all the time), love Dez Bryant. They were almost looking at him too much! But, when that line gets healthy look for Austin and Bryant to get huge numbers.

Thanks for reading. Just found out, people all over the world have checked out this site....and we really do appreciate that!

WEEK ONE! WE'RE READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!

How about this for a crazy idea? We're going to look at the fantasy impact of each game. How's that for creative. Well, here it is anyway:
MINNESOTA VIKINGS VS. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (Thursday night)
I had a feeling this would be a shoot out, so I checked out their last game....and guess what? A lot of guys went off in that one! A couple of surprises were how well Bernard Berian and Vishante Shiancoe did, and how poorly all the Saint WR's did. Without Cedric Griffin and Cris Cook playing in the secondary for Minnesota, Drew Brees will have a big game, but I don't like any receiver imparticular...on either side. You just don't know. If I had to pick one, I'd go Colston. At Running Back, why not try out this Adrian Peterson guy, but I don't like Pierre Thomas with the Minnesota run D!
DOC'S PICK: MINNESOTA / TBONE'S PICK: MINNESOTA

CAROLINA PANTHERS VS. NEW YORK GIANTS (Sunday, Noon)
I can't wait to see Ahmad Bradshaw. I don't know that he'll be great or have huge fantasy points, but I can't wait to see what he does. I do have a hunch that DeAngelo Williams is better than Jonathon Stewart and Steve Smith (CAR) wins the battle of the Steve Smiths. Carolina was the third best team against the QB last year, so I wouldn't start either of them. It's a shame the Panthers don't utilize the TE more; because that would be a nice play.
DOC'S PICK: NEW YORK / TBONE'S PICK: NEW YORK

ATLANTA FALCONS VS. PITTSBURGH STEELERS (Sunday, Noon)
I see this as low-scoring, and I still don't know if "The Sharder", Rashard Mendenhall, is going to be a good start here with Dennis Dixon at the QB. Doc disagrees and says you have to start him, but I don't know. In fact, I don't love Michael Turner but I guess you'll probably start him too no matter what I say. I just see the Pittsburgh defense coming out with something to prove. Low scoring, maybe a Heath Miller sighting or two. And of course, until further notice, always start Roddy White!
DOC'S PICK: PITTSBURGH / TBONE'S PICK: PITTSBURGH

CLEVELAND BROWNS VS. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (Sunday, Noon)
Last year, teams piled up 158 yards per game against the Browns on the ground. Well, it ain't last year. So, as it would seem like Carnell Williams is a good play here (I picked him to do better than "The Sharder" this week), I think the Browns D comes to play. I'd also look at Jerome Harrison, but Tampa D improved a ton when Raheem Morris took control last year. Besides Kellen Winslow, I dont' think there's another starter you'd even want to tempt yourself with.
DOC'S PICK: TAMPA BAY / TBONE'S PICK: CLEVELAND

DENVER BRONCOS VS. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (Sunday, Noon)
I'll just come out and say it, I like Kyle Orton and Jabar Gafney to have big games. That's it - Jabar Gafney = 100 yards. I said it! I don't trust Knowshon Moreno with a bad knee and a bad Ryan Clady. And I don't like Jacksonville's passing options. I LOVE MJD! He's back to practice and ready to run wild!
DOC'S PICK: DENVER / TBONE'S PICK: DENVER

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS VS. HOUSTON TEXANS (Sunday, Noon)
Of course, you start Peyton Manning and Matt Schaub! Of course, you start Andre Johnson and one or two of the Colts WR (see Hail Marys above for my pick). Of course, you're gonna start Dallas Clark. But, last year Joseph Addai had 63 and 69 yards in two games against the Texans and Arian Foster has to go against an Indy D that's always good against the run with Bob Sanders. I'd pick Foster over Addai, and if you drafter Foster to be your #2 - let him do his job! But check your options!
DOC'S PICK: HOUSTON / TBONE'S PICK: INDIANAPOLIS

MIAMI DOLPHINS VS. BUFFALO BILLS (Sunday, Noon)
I'll be excited to see what C.J. Spiller does, but I'd rather start Ronnie Brown. Last year, Bills not so good against the run! Miami was fourth worse against QBs last year and 6th worse against WR, so be ready for a Trent Edwards to Lee Evans explosion - just kidding! And don't think Brandon Marshall is going to go off. Buffalo was actually pretty good against WR last year.
DOC'S PICK: MIAMI / TBONE'S PICK: MIAMI

DETROIT LIONS VS. CHICAGO BEARS (Sunday, Noon)
Last year, Detroit was last vs. the WR, last vs. the QB, last vs. the RB and 4th worse vs. the TE - They weren't very good. If you drafted any Bears, this will be your best chance all year to play them. The only problem for us Bear fans is that this will also be your time to play Jahvid Best and Calvin Johnson. Don't take the D's!
DOC'S PICK: DETROIT (He did it!) / TBONE'S PICK: CHICAGO

OAKLAND RAIDERS VS TENNESSEE TITANS (Sunday, Noon)
Chris Johnson could get 2,000 yards....in this game. Last year the Raiders gave up 155 yards per game against the run. This could be ugly! However, here's a sleeper pick for you. Louis Murphy, I like him and Jason Campbell. Tennessee has had trouble in the secondary and Murphy is the main man. Also, watch out for Zach Miller - we know Jason Campbell likes the Tight End...and we're talking football.
DOC'S PICK: TENNESSEE / TBONE'S PICK: TENNESSEE

CINCINNATI BENGALS VS. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (Sunday, Noon)
Cinci's D is better than you think, and New England's is not. Doc made the point that if you want to start Carson Palmer at all this year, now's the time. And I'll give away a little of the podcast - we said, out of Wes Welker, Chad Ochocinco, and Terrel Owens, we'd start T.O. Why not? Still like Benson and still don't like any Patriot RB. And let's just see if Randy Moss is pouting on the sidelines.
DOC'S PICK: NEW ENGLAND / TBONE'S PICK: CINCINNATI

ARIZONA CARDINALS VS. ST. LOUIS RAMS (Sunday, 3:15)
I love the Rams - Sam Bradford, Laurent Robinson, Billy Bajema! They're great. Do I think you start any of them? NO! Oh yeah, except that Steven Jackson guy! As for the Cardinals, unless something changes, I'd start Tim Hightower over Beanie Wells, but listen for the injury reports. I also think Derick Anderson is a Top 10 QB this week - so I guess I like Larry Fitzgerald.
DOC'S PICK: ARIZONA / TBONE'S PICK: ST. LOUIS

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS VS. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (Sunday, Noon)
One name and one name only - Frank Gore. Remember last year? Does 246 yards remind you of anything? However, in Week 13, he had only 25 yards and Alex Smith went off to Vernon Davis. OK, I'd get the 49 D in there, but I can't trust any Seahawk until they show me what's up their sleeve at RB.
DOC'S PICK: SAN FRANCISCO / TBONE'S PICK: SAN FRANCISCO

GREEN BAY PACKERS VS. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (Sunday, 3:15)
Aaron Rodgers will be great! Ryan Grant will be good! Jermichael Finley will be great! Donald Driver will be great! Greg Jennings will be good! You'll hear that all year with maybe Driver and Jennings switched! But, this does seem like a good match-up....for both teams. The only one I'm gun-shy on is Kevin Kolb. I like Maclin, Jackson adn Celek, but Kolb is too unknown right now, and I don't like LeSean McCoy - nothing personal!
DOC'S PICK: PHILADELPHIA / TBONE'S PICK: GREEN BAY

DALLAS COWBOYS VS. WASHINGTON REDSKINS (Sunday Night)
This will be more interesting than anything else? Will the Cowboys prove their offense is what we thought it would be before preseason? I think "Yes." Will Clinton Portis have a big game? I say "Yes - kind of." Will Donovan McNabb have anyone to throw to? I say "Santana Moss." Will Marion Barber or Felix Jones have more fantasy points? I say "Felix Jones." And don't forget Miles Austin, Tony Romo, Jason Witten and David Buehler!
DOC'S PICK: DALLAS / TBONE'S PICK: DALLAS

BALTIMORE RAVENS VS. NEW YORK JETS (Monday Night)
I wanted to say, "Don't start anyone but the kickers," but Doc talked me out of it. I just don't see a whole ton of points being scored. But, I guess if you're gonna pass on the Jets this would be the week. I do say, check out Billy Cundiff and Mike Nugent - they are two kickers that are probably available in your league!
DOC'S PICK: NEW YORK / TBONE'S PICK: BALTIMORE

Can I just tell you how glad I am that we are almost done with these?

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS VS. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (Monday Night)
Ryan Matthews may be the best running back ever after this game! KC, not so good at stopping people last year. In fact, I'll say it right now - Shootout! I wouldn't stop you from starting anyone on either of these teams. I will say this, I'm sticking with Jamaal Charles until proven otherwise!
DOC'S PICK: SAN DIEGO / TBONE'S PICK: KANSAS CITY

Whooooo! I'm so glad it's over! Why don't you send in your picks and go up against Doc and TBone?

YOU MUST READ THIS BEFORE YOU START THE SEASON!!!

OK, so we're one week away from Opening Day. You're team is drafted, you've already looked over some trades, you know every free agent that could possibly fit on your team - IT'S FANTASY FOOTBALL TIME! But, before you start your season, can we give you some Do's and Don'ts for your Fantasy Football year! We won't claim that these will "win you a championship" but it will make fantasy football a whole lot more fun for you and the people in your league.
DO have fun! DON'T make this into a job, something that defines your worth, or takes away from your family and friends!
DO be fair and honest with the info you receive. In fact, let other people know where you get your info so they can get it too if they'd like to. DON'T be that guy who tries to rip everybody off or tries to trade hurt players for major values.
DO your research and listen to ESPN Fantasy Focus, HackHype and go to Footballguys.com. Educate yourself on your players so you DON'T freak out about who to start and who to sit. DO the research and then trust your opinion. And know that you will pick the wrong guy sometimes.
DO pick the guys you feel are going to have a great day. DON'T pick someone just because the experts say to. If someone is going to mess up your fantasy season, it might as well be you....and it's a lot funnier when the guys in your league start talking trash over something stupid you did!
DO listen to Fantasy Focus with Matthew Barry. He gets it! He does his research, but he's humble enough to admit he doesn't know it all. And he has fun with fantasy football.
DO annoy your family and friends by constantly talking about your fantasy football team. Nobody likes that...and that's exactly why it's so hilarious when you and a buddy are talking about who to start out of Matt Forte and Jahvid Best and everyone else goes into a short-lived coma.
DO spend your season building relationships! DON'T make your goal to "win the championship." Remember, there's a lot of luck involved in this thing. If you haven't won the championship in 14 years you may still be a good person. And you'll have these friends a lot longer than the stupid fantasy football trophy.
DO celebrate victories. Make it a little ritual. Every time your team wins, get yourself a little snacky! Talk a little trash to the guy you just beat. Have fun with it. But, DON'T get angry over loses. Sure, everyone wants to win, but getting angry because you had Dwayne Bowe on your bench and started Brandon Marshall just isn't worth it!
DO have fun! That's why we all started doing this stuff. It's fun! Remember to keep it that way!

You know, we never get any comments! It would be nice to have one just once!
