ROCK SOLID VS SHIFTING SAND

Andy, one of our football experts, had a great idea for our podcast. We pick ROCK SOLID and SHIFTING SAND players each week. (Rock Solid is like when Jesus talks about a faith that is built on the rock vs Shifting Sand which is a faith built on something that won't last - get it? It's in the Bible, trust me!) So, since I am nothing if not a rip-off artist, you'll see my ROCK SOLID and SHIFTING SAND players from each game....with maybe a few random tidbits thrown in for each one!
JAGUARS VS. BILLS
ROCK SOLID: Maurice Jones Drew, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Steve Johnson and Fred Jackson. MJD you know, but Ryan Fitzpatrick has had over 20 pts each week he's started and Steve Johnson has gotten in double digit fantasy points both times. And I'll take Fred Jackson as the lead back, at least for a couple weeks until the Bills have totally given up.
SHIFTING SAND: David Garrard, Mike Simms-Walker, Mike Thomas. Buffalo's pass defense is o.k., and the Jags pass O is not!
DOC'S PICK = JAGUARS / TBONE'S PICK = BILLS

BRONCOS VS. RAVENS
ROCK SOLID: Joe Flacco, Anquan Boldin, Ray Rice, Eddie Royal. Flacco started off against two solid defenses, and Denver is bad against the pass. It does hold Running Backs to low points, but I see Ray Rice catching a lot of balls. For the Broncos, Eddie Royal is the most consistent out of the four receivers!
SINKING SAND: Kyle Orton. He's not going to be horrible, but the Ravens have not given up more than 17 points in any game. Orton will get some yards, but don't expect more than one TD.
DOC'S PICK = BRONCOS / TBONE'S PICK = RAVENS

FALCONS VS. BROWNS
ROCK SOLID: Roddy White How can you not love Roddy White?
SINKING SAND: Michael Turner, Peyton Hillis I don't hate them, but I'm worried about Turner's workload with Snelling and Peyton Hillis shouldn't have a huge game against a pretty good Atlanta D (although, you probably would have said that about Baltimore too!)
DOC'S PICK = FALCONS / TBONE'S PICK = FALCONS

CHIEFS VS. COLTS
ROCK SOLID: Jamaal Charles, Thomas Jones, Joseph Addai, Reggie Wayne Peyton Manning is always Rock Solid! You can defintely run enough on the Colts to start two backs, but I'd take Charles to have more yards in this one. Addai will score another touchdown, and Reggie Wayne builds off last week!
SINKING SAND: Matt Cassel, Dwayne Bowe The Chiefs lack of passing offense finally catches up to them.
DOC'S PICK = COLTS / TBONE'S PICK = COLTS

BUCCANEERS VS. BENGALS
ROCK SOLID: Cedric Benson, Chad Ochocinco The Bengals have to give the rock to Cedric for him to be Rock Solid, and this week I think they will. I also think Chad gets loose for a big one.
SINKING SAND: Cadillac Williams, T.O. Too many running backs in Tampa, and T.O. should be back to his pre-Week 4 ways!
DOC'S PICK = BENGALS / TBONE'S PICK = BENGALS

PACKERS VS REDSKINS
ROCK SOLID: Chris Cooley, Jermichael Finley, Ryan Torain This is the Battle of the Tight Ends. Green Bay gives up 8 pt/game to TE, and Washington isn't great against them. You would think the Pack D would be tough to run on, but I see Torain getting enough carries to have a nice day!
SHIFTING SAND: Donovan McNabb, Santana Moss, Packer Running Backs. I don't see McNabb handling the pressure too well, and don't start a Packer Running Back ever, ever!
DOC'S PICK = REDSKINS / TBONE'S PICK = PACKERS

RAMS VS LIONS
ROCK SOLID: Sam Bradford, Mark Clayton, Steven Jackson, Danny Fells, Jahvid Best The Lions average giving up 26 points a game and have given up 8 passing TDs. Sam Bradford has gotten better every week and I see him finding his Tight End. I see Jahvid catching a lot of passes out of the backfield.
SINKING SAND: Calvin Johnson, Shaun Hill Rams D is coming around and only gave up three points last week.
DOC'S PICK = RAMS / TBONE'S PICK = LIONS

BEARS VS. PANTHERS
ROCK SOLID: Matt Forte, DeAngelo Williams I think the old "oh, you'd like to run right past us defense" is back, and DWill takes advantage of it. I also see the Bears doing more with Matt Forte after last week.
SHIFTING SAND: Johnny Knox Really, would you start anyone else anyway? With Todd Collins, you just don't know what you're going to get.
DOC'S PICK = PANTHERS / TBONE'S PICK = BEARS

GIANTS VS. TEXANS
ROCK SOLID: Hakeem Nicks, Eli Manning, Arian Foster, Brandon Jacobs You can pass on Houston, and I think Brandon Jacobs will get at least one score. Arian Foster, with two whole halves, forget about it!
SHIFTING SAND: Matt Schaub, Steve Smith I think you can put the old New York fork in Steve Smith. This just isn't going to be his year. And Matt Schaub, stationary QB, against a Giants defense who knocked Jay Cutler silly last week - not good!
DOC'S PICK = TEXANS / TBONE'S PICK = GIANTS

SAINTS VS. CARDINALS
ROCK SOLID: Pierre Thomas, Lance Moore, Marques Colston, Beanie Wells, Larry Fitzgerald Arizona has given up 41 points twice this year. If Thomas is healthy, he's going off! Lance Moore has scored a TD in every game since Reggie Bush has been gone - coincidence? It's time for Colston to have a big game - should be a lot of points to be had by Saints players. And at some point the Cardinals have to just start handing off! But, you have to think a QB change could do some good for Fitz.
SHIFTING SAND: Tim Hightower He's dropping lower and lower each week. Where are you Tim, I can't see you!
DOC'S PICK = SAINTS / TBONE'S PICK = CARDINALS

TITANS VS. COWBOYS
ROCK SOLID: Chris Johnson, Jason Witten, Chuck Cecil's D You would think Chris Johnson is Rock Solid every week, but no so much this year. Jason Witten has been dying to get on the field for two weeks and 12 minutes. And Chuck Cecil will find a way to stop them Cowboys...or flip them the bird!
SHIFTING SAND: Tony Romo I think Dallas tries to establish the running game a little more. Some receiver will drop too, but not sure who.
DOC'S PICK = COWBOYS / TBONE'S PICK = TITANS

CHARGERS VS. RAIDERS
ROCK SOLID: Mike Tolbert, Ryan Matthews, Michael Bush, Zach Miller You can start two RBs vs the Raiders and get good value out of each. But this is it. After this week, say good-bye to Mike Tolbert and hello to Ryan Matthews. And if Michael Bush can be anywhere close to Darren McFadden, you've got yourself a winner (did I just say that?). Zach Miller against a team not so good against the Tight End - can you say over 100 yards again?
SHIFTING SAND: Malcolm Floyd You would think Chargers would look to run, and not to throw at Nmandi!
DOC'S PICK = CHARGERS / TBONE'S PICK = CHARGERS

EAGLES VS. 49ERS
ROCK SOLID: Frank Gore, Brent Celek, Mike Bell Eagles Run D is a lot worse than people think. We know the new Offensive Coordinator is going to get the ball to Gore. Big day! Kevin Kolb likes Brent Celek more than Michael Vick does, and the running back has been getting a lot of yards out there!
SHIFTING SAND: DeSean Jackson, Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree Don't see Kolb hitting on as many long ones as Vick. And can you trust any 49er that has to catch a pass from Alex Smith?
DOC'S PICK = 49ERS / TBONE'S PICK = 49ERS

VIKINGS VS. JETS
ROCK SOLID: Mark Sanchez, Dustin Keller Mark Sanchez is the #8 QB right now, and Santonio Holmes is back. This may be one of Dustin Keller's last good weeks.
SHIFTING SAND: Vishanthe Shiancoe, Randy Moss, LT Shiancoe is banged up and I bet Randy gets a ton of stuff thrown his way. Unfortunately, Randy will be covered by Darrelle Reevis. Minnesota is tough to run on. So don't expect huge things from LT.
DOC'S PICK = VIKINGS / TBONE'S PICK = JETS

This week, I've tried to base my picks and my life more on Rock Solid stuff. It's worked pretty well for 39 years or so, you might want to give it a try!
Thanks for reading, listening, whatever you do - THANKS!
