ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FOOTBALL, I LEARNED IN WEEK EIGHT!

Matthew Berry, from www.espn.com, in his weekly "Love/Hate" column basically wrote that it was too cheesy for him to use a Halloween theme even though all these games are being played on October 31st.  Well, I'm definitely no where close to the TMR as far as talent goes, and I've never had a problem with being cheesy!  So, here' one player from each game in Week Eight and if they will be a TRICK or TREAT for the rest of the year (I think you'll get it as you read on!).

49ers 24 Broncos 16 - Kyle Orton TREAT
This was his first game over 300 yards in the last three, and two out of the last three he's had only 1 touchdown.  But, he's consistently getting 12-15 fantasy points and his fantasy play-off opponents are the Cardinals and Raiders and Texans.  Two things concern me: Tim Tebow.  I'm not sure how this is possible as a Quarterback, but he's a touchdown vulture.  And with only two wins, the Broncos may not be in playoff contention come fantasy playoff time -does that mean Tebow gets a shot?

Jags 35 Dallas 17 - David Garrard TRICK
He had four touchdowns passing and 1 rushing.  He has the legs to do that every week, but he doesn't have the receivers.  Do you really think Mike Sims-Walker will ever have 153 yards again?  This came against a Dallas team that is too worried about being a star than the Star on their helmet.  Don't do anything crazy here!

Dolphins 22 Bengals 14 - Brandon Marshall TRICK
I'm gonna trick you on this trick.  Follow along.  Brandon Marshall has only had one touchdown ths season.  There is no way that holds up for the second half.  He has 8 red zone targets this year (the leading receiver has 11).  His yards haven't been eye-popping, but with a few more touchdowns he'd be in the Top 10 WR

Chiefs 13 Bills 10 - Steve Johnson TREAT
Since Ryan Fitzpatrick has been the starter, Steve Johnson has scored every week. He has 6 touchdowns and is a Top 15 WR right now.  How can you not start this guy....and while you're at it, how could you not start Ryan Fitzpatrick?  He had 43 rushing yards today!

Lions 37 Redskins 25 - Kevin Smith TREAT
For anyone who's listened to the podcast, you know I was going to say TREAT because I've been touting him since the preseason; however, he has done nothing but put up yards whenever he gets the ball.  He's averaging 4.5 yards per carry and coming off the bye he shares carries with Jahvid Best - hmmmmmm!
Bonus TREAT (like the house that just says, "Take a handful") - Matthew Stafford and Rex Grossman (jk)

Rams 20 Panthers 10 - Brandon LaFell TREAT (but like a Hershey's bar)
Last week, LaFell has 6 targets, 6 catches and 90 yards.  This week, his targets go up by two, he only has 4 catches and 40 yards, but scores a touchdown.  The Panthers have liked him since training camp and that running game is awful.  Don't expect huge numbers, but he might be a fantasy playa' depending on the week.

Packers 9 Jets 0 - Shonn Greene TRICK
Anyone who was holding out hope that Shonn Greene would come around is either a lot more faith-filled than I or crazy!  He's only had one game over 57 yards this year and only scored 1 TD.  We're talking half the year already - let it go!
P.S. Am I the only one who loves these 9-0 games?

Chargers 33 Titans 25 - Ryan Matthews TRICK
Not that anyone was starting him at this point, but Ryan Matthews finally gave you some o.k. fantasy numbers.  Only problem - he's not even the best running back on his real team, much less your fantasy team.  Mike Tolbert is averaging 4.6 yds/carry to his 4.4 and Tolbert has 7 TDs to his 2.  As much as I hate to say this, you pretty much have to keep him on your team, but it may only be for water boy purposes.

Patriots 28 Vikings 18 - Danny Woodhead TREAT (like a Tootsie Roll)
In four out of his last five games he's had 10 or 11 fantasy points.  He's consistent!  Again, he's not going to be a guy who ever racks up 25 points, but you can almost count on his ten.

Bucs 38 Cardinals 35 - LaGarrette Blount TREAT
He's had two games as the featured back - one o.k. game...and this one!  If he averages nine yards a carry and two touchdowns for the rest of the year the Bucs may just be the best team in the NFC.  Let's not get too crazy, this was against the Cardinals, but you have to like  what we've seen so far.  Their schedule is kind of tough, until the fantasy play-offs when they get Washington, Detroit and Seattle in Tampa.
P.S. For all of you who had the chance to get Mike Williams off the Waiver Wire and didn't, may God forgive you!

Raiders 33 Seahawks 3 - The Raider's Offense TREAT
Besides the first two weeks (and a hiccup against the 49ers) this team has averaged over 30 points a game (obviously 59 helps the average).  We'll see what happens against Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Miami, and San Diego.  But, if you can ride that out with your Raiders - the playoffs look good: Jacksonville, Denver and Oakland.

Saints 20 Steelers 10 - Julius Jones TRICK
If you look up TRICK in the dictionary, it is Julius Jones.  I can't tell you how many times I've believed in this guy only to have him kick me in the Jones!  He did look like the best RB in New Orleans, and if Thomas and Bush never come back, he might be their #1 guy, but I wouldn't bet on any of those happening.
