GO GET 'EMS FOR WEEK NINE!

Tonight I was going through my different leagues just to see who was out there on the Waiver Wire. There's this league that I basically just check on Sunday mornings to see my line-up, but I may have to start checking in more often. My eyes did not believe what I saw! See if any of these names would be of interest to you - Malcolm Floyd, Mike Williams (TB), Mike Tolbert, Ryan Matthews, Jon Kitna. Crazy, right?
Now, last week I told you to check on the Waiver Wire for Kickers and Defenses - but skip that! Check it all out. With all these byes and maybe a few fantasy players losing some interest, you may be surprised. But, just in case you're not and you're looking, let's compare the top guys all there and see who I'd GO GET!

Carson Palmer, David Garrard or Rex Grossman?
Sorry, I had to throw Grossman in there.  Preseason we were all over him as the Redskins starting QB (we're from Chicago!), and really if you're going to play a guy in the final two minutes to try and win a game how big a leap is it to make him the starting QB!  OK, so really if it's Palmer vs. Garrard.  Right now, Carson Palmer is rated ahead of Tom Brady, while David Garrard is at #22.  The Bengals definitely have the better group of receivers and overall the better offense.  Cinci's record is not so hot, but I don't think you have to worry about them grooming another quarterback.  So.......
Carson Palmer........GO GET 'EM!

Keiland Williams, Clinton Portis, Kevin Smith or Jerome Harrison
You guessed it - most of your running backs are gone by now!  But, if Ryan Torain is really injured (and hammy's can take a while; especially when attached to Ryan Torain), then you may be looking at a new #1 option in Washington.  However, Keiland had the shot to take that spot when Portis went down and they didn't believe in him then.  Now, if Portis can come back adn we've seen that Skin running game get going.......Hmmmmm!  Jerome Harrison is just kind of a flyer, kind of a "hope LeSean McCoy gets hurt".  Philly doesn't run enough to support two fantasy backs.  But, Kevin Smith?  I likee Kevin Smith - have all year!  He's slowly but surely getting more and more touches, and as far as yards per carry - he's looking the best he has in his short career.  The Lions offense is the most explosive out of these three (did I just say that?).  So......
Kevin Smith.........GO GET 'EM!

Anthony Armstrong, Steve Breaston, Mike Simms-Walker
Don't do it!  Don't fall in love with Mike Simms-Walker after one good game.  At least go look at his stats in the previous three games.  OK, now move on!  Steve Breason has shown the skills to put up gaudy stats in the past, but can Max Hall / Derick Anderson really keep two fantasy receivers productive.  Anthony Armstrong has the ability to get the deep ball and Rex Grossman, ooops I mean Donovan McNabb has found him a couple times.  He's already had a couple nice games.  So......
Anthony Armstrong..........GO GET 'EM!

Brandon Pettigrew, Aaron Hernandez
This probably isn't the case in your league, but both of these guys are available right now in ours!  And even if you had a great Tight End, this is the year to pick up another - either for trade bait or for insurance.  Aaron Hernandez is smooth.  He can run the deep route and make people miss after the catch.  Both guys play in good offenses, the only difference is that Pettigrew actually scores in his.  Look at this week.  Pettigrew has only 8 yards, Hernandez had 33 - but Pettigrew scored.  That's a much better fantasy day.  So.....just because he finds the endzone more often.....
Brandon Pettigrew.......GO GET 'EM!

We've just spent the last fifteen minutes talking about guys who have been passed over or forgotten, but may have some incredible value.  You meet people like that every day.  Look at your mailman, your boss, the stranger on the street, that "kind-of weird" neighbor.  I know you, just like me, walk past people everyday that you think are Waiver Wire material, and we never even take the time to put them on our team.  Maybe it's time to GO GET 'EM!
